When I first arrived in Dubai, all I wanted was some art to brighten up our walls. Sure, I’d brought some prints and paintings from home, but it would be nice to find something with a local flavor. Easy, right? Not so quickly! I did a quick google for local prints and pictures, but was sorely disappointed at the selection. There were a few things at IKEA, but I didn’t want my house looking too much like an IKEA showroom. Gallery One had some lovely pieces, but they were really expensive. After much googling, I was very happy to find Dubai Love, a local business selling modern, architectural prints, postcards, plates, t-shirts and coasters.
Dubai Love is run by Renate Aridi and Kristina Reinberga, two ex-pats with backgrounds in interior decoration and architecture. The company combines an eye for design and a love of Dubai to create some innovative pieces. I haven’t really seen anything else like them in Dubai. I love the clean, modern feel and look of their gorgeous products. Their postcards are perfect for sending home – providing you can locate one of Dubai’s elusive postboxes – and their gold rimmed porcelain plates are a fantastic accent piece (and I’m a sucker for anything with a plane on it!). As you can see below, I have two of their prints in my apartment. Dubai Love t-shirts and coasters also make a fantastic, design friendly souvenir for friends and family. They even have a coloring book of the Emirates – complete with a set of eco-friendly pencils.
You can order Dubai Love products online, with free shipping available for Dubai residents. My order arrived in just a few days. Sign up to the Dubai Love mailing list to receive 15% off your first purchase!
