Yislamoo – Creative Arabian Art

3

One of the best aspects of moving to Dubai was the chance to decorate a new house. A blank canvas with fresh white walls awaited me, ready to be adorned. I had only packed a few prints and paintings from New Zealand, so was pretty excited to be able to choose new art pieces when I moved to Dubai. Luckily, I had Yislamoo – a local Arabian art website with amazing prints – to help brighten my apartment!

While there are many websites in Dubai selling art, Yislamoo has a focus on local, Arabian focussed pieces. Its work is that little bit different. Yislamoo’s quirky pieces are unique, often quite funny, and gorgeously designed. The company started as a small home based business in Amman by Rasha, and has grown into an online business delivering from the heart of Dubai. It celebrates art from beautiful Arabia by collaborating with talented artists and calligraphers. As well as selling its wonderful prints, it has a growing collection of quirky greeting cards and gift ideas. I’m a big fan of modern design – and Yislamoo delivers it in bounds.

As well as selling a range of framed and unframed pictures, Yislamoo also offers gorgeous customized prints, which can be edited with your information. Whether its an anniversary or wedding print, or something for your kids room or to celebrate the birth of a new baby, you’ll find some beautiful options on the site.

If you are wondering about the meaning of the name Yislamoo (written as يسلموو in Arabic), it is a term used to say thank you and express gratitude. It translates to a prayer: “may you be safe from harm” or “may you be blessed“. Arabic hospitality is a   trademark of the region. People tend to feel in debt if you do something nice or a favor for them. When a person wants to express gratitude and has nothing to offer at that moment, sending out a prayer such as Yislamoo is the individual’s way of returning the favor or gift on spot. Giving a Yislamoo gift thus has an added meaning. It also makes Yislamoo prints and products a great idea for gifting, particularly during Ramadan.

Yislamoo prints are available to buy directly on the Yislamoo website, and select prints at also available at Virgin Megastore in Dubai. Make sure that you visit the sale section to pick up some bargains!
